“With the
rise of Alzheimer's disease many are looking for a solution to stop their
declining mental ability. In a Wall Street Journal
article, Dr. Patricia Boyle, a neuropsychologist and researcher,
claims that their studies have discovered a way to slow cognitive decline by
30%!
The answer is to discover and pursue your purpose in life. People who are living out their purpose keep their mind more
active and engaged.
Unfortunately,
many people live decades after retirement with their sense of purpose becoming
shelved.
Ephesians
2:10 reminds us, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to
do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
God has a
plan and a purpose for each day. Don't waste decades of your life. Pursue your
purpose daily.”
After
reading this piece of advice from Rick Boxx, it got me thinking, could it be
that the reason most people are so miserable is because they are not doing what
they should be doing. Could it be? I know many people who are not happy at
their jobs, at home and everywhere in between, could it be that they are doing some
things all wrong. Well, maybe.
Thinking
the kind of life that David in the bible led makes me think how different God
is from me. David lived a life many of us would not be proud of in the end in
our eyes. The amazing thing is what God says about him. God says that “David is
a man after my heart” David had his hands soiled in blood to his shoulders, but
he did as the Lord intended. In God’s eyes he served his generation faithfully.
His fell many times but he knew where to go after falling, to the maker and
helper of man….God. There he could be forgiven and given direction on where to
go after that.
Are
you doing what God intends for your life? Many may not understand what and why
you do what you do, but your maker God knows why and when so trust Him and He
will lead you in the way you should go.
